Digging Maya's new album, digging the new XXXO music video as well.
The whole myspace blingee theme she has going on isnt really my style but I still love it. I actually obsessed over some songs from /\/\ /\ Y /\, it was noise in a way but it was this beautiful noise. So here's the new music video for XXXO, which is my current favorite M.I.A. song. Might I add she likes really great and her lips are so luscious and kissable!

Intro: the XX
I'm starting this new blog.
As a hobby.
In hopes it will do something for what I aspire to be:
a music journalist.
Now to the point.
the XX, a band from London, was ignited in 2005 with four group members, Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, Baria Qureshi and Jamie Smith. (Baria recently left the band in 2009.) They released their self-titled album on August 17 of 2009 under the label of Young Trucks.
When my friend first introduced me to the XX, I was amused and expected the lead singers to be decked out in "vintage clothing" and such, so when I googled an image and saw 4 people in all black clothes, I will admit I was stunned and thought there was a goth band named the XX as well to what I had listened. I then was assured that this was them and I loved the look, it was slightly different to their sound but after listening for so long the look in a way goes with the music and also embraces their sound.
Romy and Oliver have voices that accompany their space like, chimed music in such an impeccable method. Their lyrics seem to flow around love and even about a friend with benefits (so Basic Space seems to be about.) I'm definitely into this band, I adore the light atmosphere and the lightness in their voices. I most enjoy listening to them at night or when I feel most emotional, kind of odd right?
Stars is my favorite song. "Stars" seems to be about two people who have a connection and go on a date. They have a connection so deep that they are willing to get intimate with each other on that very date but they don't neccesarily want to rush because they truly want to be with one another, as in a relationship. She speaks about "drawing lines" and allowing him to cross each line because she truly wants to be with him. They both know how deep the connection is and want to give each other what they want but seem to be afraid to let each other know exactly how they feel, as the lyrics go "if you want me let know," and "no need for talking, i already know." It's like they are in their own world, where all they see and want and live is each other, "I dont have to exist outside this place." Perhaps I'm right and perhaps I'm not but the point is that their music is lovely and each song has a wonderful story behind.
